WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

This unique event will challenge you in so many ways. Winter does not need to be dark, cold and gloomy, especially when you’ve got the ‘The Mud, Sweat and Tears Challenge’ to look forward to!
This event is about having fun whilst challenging your physical and mental strength. The course is designed to be challenging and if you have average fitness, determination and a sense of fun, you will have a ball! Remember, the mud will wash off, but the memories will last forever.
This event is open to guys and girls, and we have in 2023 introduced a NEW 5k Youth event for children aged 7-12.
Compete as an individual or get a group of work mates, friends or the family together as a team and have a crack at this exciting event.
WHAT'S INVOLVED?
The Mud, Sweat and Tears Challenge is based at the picturesque Wingatui Race Course.
The 5km or 10km (2×5 km laps) course will take you over the rugged land, through the surrounding pine tree plantation and of course into some muddy marshes. The course has some natural obstacles as well as some really entertaining and demanding obstacles that we have dreamed up.
This years course will includes a mix of the following (and possibly a couple of new challenges): a forest run, hay bale pyramid, a crawl under a sea of barbed wire, horse jumps, water jumps, wire rope bridges, mud runs, floating platforms and new obstacles are added each year. We also have a new finish line experience and live and instant timing provided by Sports Splits.

10.00am – Start of The Mud, Sweat and Tears Challenge 2023.
12.30pm – Prize Giving and After Party starts
Pre Race Registration
Late entries close on Thursday 9 June.
Subject to availability, a small number of 'On the Day' entries will be taken. These are CASH ONLY and no change will be given.
Late entries will not receive a starter pack or timing.
Pre Race Briefing
Race briefing is compulsory for all competitors. Please be in front of the stage by 9.40am.
Prizes and Prize Giving
There will be prizes awarded to the winner of each division. Best Dressed prizes will be given to the best fancy dressed teams and individuals, this is your chance to be creative, think “Wellington Sevens” gone nuts.
Event Clothing
We recommend that competitors wear a merino or polyprop long sleeve top. Suitable running shoes must be worn and should be taped on to prevent loss in the mud.
Please no running spikes or rugby boots. Remember it could be cold and will be wet and muddy, therefore you will need to bring with you a towel, dry set of clothes, warm hat, jumper and dry shoes.
Event Services
There will be warm showers and wash down areas for all competitors as well as ample changing areas, toilets and bag storage areas (at your own risk).
Food & Drinks
You are welcome to bring your own food for after the event, however a range of food and beverage will be available for purchase.
Teams Format
The teams event is 5km or 10km loop for each competitor starting at the same time and this year all team members must cross the line together to qualify.
Spectators
Spectators are welcome. There are numerous sites available to view all the action, details available on day from event staff.
Location
Wingatui Race Course is located at 285 Gladstone Road North, Mosgiel. Just 15 minutes drive from Dunedin.
The event will be sign posted. There will be plenty of parking which will be clearly sign posted and marshalled on the day.
